Bangladesh Under-16 Women’s Football team will leave Dhaka for Japan on Saturday to take part in an intensive training and play friendly matches against local selections at J-GREEN Sakai National Training Centre in Osaka on June 18-24.
They took part a practice session as part of their preparations for the AFC U-16 Women’s Championship.
The eight-team final round of the AFC U-16 Women’s Championship will held at Chonburi Stadium in Thailand from September 10-23.
Bangladesh will start their campaign taking on defending champions North Korea in the first match on September 11 at 17pm.
In a pre-tour press conference at the BFF House on Thursday, Head Coach of Bangladesh team Golam Rabbani Choton and captain Krishna Rani Sarker said through this tour they will do their best to overcome lapses, boost morale and enrich experiences for the AFC U-16 Championships.
Chairman of the BFF Women’s Committee Mahfuza Akhtere Kiron and Assistant Coach Mahbubur Rahman Litu also spoke on the occasion.
Earlier, Bangladesh were put in strong Group B along with holders North Korea, last time runners-up Japan and Australia while Group A teams comprise of South Korea, China, Laos and hosts Thailand.
In remaining group matches, Bangladesh will play Japan on September 14 at IPE Stadium in Chonburu and Australia on September 17 at the same venue.
Hosts Thailand will play inaugural match with comparatively weaker Laos on September 10 at Chonburi Stadium.
On completion of the group matches, the Group A champions will play Group B runners-up at 4pm while Group champions will face Group A runners-up at 7pm on September 20.
The final match will be held on September 23 at 7:30pm while the 3rd place deciding match will be held on the same day at 4pm.
The competition also serves as the qualifiers for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Uruguay 2018, with the top three ranked teams at this year’s AFC U-16 Women’s Championship going on to represent Asia.
