Bangladesh Under-12 Football team left here for Malaysia on Wednesday night by Malinda Air to participate in the 16-team Super Mokh Cup Football to be held Dec 4-7, eyeing at least to reach the Cup quarterfinals.
Sixteen teams, split into four groups, will initially compete on league basis with Bangladesh placed in Group D with Sevilla FC (Spain), Chonburi FC (Thailand) and Malaysia Cougars.
Later, two top teams from each of the four groups will qualify for the Cup quarterfinals while two bottom teams from each of the groups will play in the Plate quarterfinals.
On Friday, Bangladesh will play their first match against Sevilla FC of Spain on Friday at 10:45 am (Malaysia time) and the 2nd match against Chonburi FC of Thailand at 04:45 pm .
In the remaining group match, Bangladesh will play Malaysia Cougars at 9:30 am on Saturday.
Addressing a press conference at the BFF House on Wednesday, Bangladesh captain Rahim Sikder said: “We want to reach semifinal, at least the quarterfinals, playing a good football.”
Bangladesh coach Ahsanullah Montu also shared the team captain’s hope.
BFF Vice President Badal Roy, Team Leader Manjurul Karim, Team Manager Sabbir Hossain and BFF general secretary Abu Nayem Shohag also spoke on the occasion.
Bangladesh team comprised 16 players and four officials.
