Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Shahjahan Kamal said Bangladesh has taken an initiative to ratify the Montreal convention to pave a way for Bangladeshi air travelers to get more insurance money in case of any accident or damage of baggage.
“Bangladesh has already become a signatory of the Montreal Convention. The ratification process is now waiting for vetting in the Law Ministry,” he said.
The Civil Aviation Minister came up with the disclosure on Wednesday when International Air Transport Association (IATA) Vice- President (Asia-Pacific Region) Conrad Clifford met him at his ministry office here.
The Montreal Convention is a multilateral treaty adopted by a diplomatic meeting of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) member states in 1999 that offers more compensation for the victims of air accidents.
