UNB, Rajshahi :Bangladesh will play Sri Lanka in the 2nd and last match of the SS Steel two-match FIFA International Friendly series today (Monday) at the 22,000 capacity Muktijoddha Smriti Stadium here, hoping to win the series beating the visitors. The match will kick-off at 3 pm. Satellite TV network Channel 9 will telecast the match live from the country’s northern city of Rajshahi, which is going to host the 2nd international football match after the independence of Bangladesh. Bangladesh Betar Rajshahi centre will also broadcast the running commentary of the match. Hosts Bangladesh played to a 1-1 draw with visiting Sri Lanka in the first of the two-match series on Friday at the Shams Ul Huda Stadium in Jessore.Famed striker Zahid Hasan Emily put Bangladesh ahead in the 20th minute (1-0) while Lankan vice captain Nalaka Roshan leveled the margin by a spectacular free kick from the top of the box in the 26th minute (1-1). Monday’s meeting will be the 14th between the two teams in international football with hosts Bangladesh enjoying upper hand winning eight matches against the Sri Lankan’ s three while the remaining two matches ended in draw. Most of the tickets for the long awaited FIFA International friendly have already been sold out. Rate of ticket for general gallery has been fixed at Tk 20; north and south pavilion Tk 30 and; VIP ticket Tk 200.
