Bangladesh men’s and women’s teams maintained their winning in the 41st World Chess Olympiad beating their respective counterparts in the 10th round matches in Tromso, Norway on Tuesday.
After the win, Bangladesh men’s team earned 12 match points and 24 game points while women’s team secured 10 match points and 22 game points.
In the 10th round matches, Bangladesh men’s team beat El Salvador by 3.5-0.5 points while women’s team defeated International Braille Chess Association (IBCA) by 3-1 points.
In the 10th round open section matches, GM Abdullah Al Rakib, GM Enamul Hossain Razib and IM Minhazuddin Ahmed Sagar of Bangladesh men’s team defeated FM Arias Daniel, IM Burgos Figueroa Carlos and FM Chavez Ricardo Ernesto respectively while GM Ziaur Rahman played draw against IM Arias Lemnys.
Meanwhile, WIM Shamima Akter Liza, WIM Rani Hamid and WFM Sharmin Sultana Shirin of Bangladesh women’s team beat Zsiltzova Lisenko Lubor, Valner Shafiga and Zarubinskaya Irina respectively while WFM Nazrana Khan Eva of Bangladesh lost to Stolarczyk Anna.
Earlier, in the 9th round matches on Monday, Bangladesh men’s team defeated Sri Lanka by 3-1 points while women’s team trounced Honduras by 4-0.
Bangladesh men’s team was due to play against Sweden in the 11th and last round matches on Wednesday while women’s team with Zambia.
