Under-19 Cricket: Bangladesh team clean sweep Zimbabwe

Like their seniors, Bangladesh Under-19 team also made a clean sweep of Zimbabwe Under-19 side 4-0 in the four-match Youth ODI series beating the tourists by 125 runs in the 4th and final match at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on Monday.
Hosts Bangladesh team, which clinched the four-match Youth ODI series earlier after beating Zimbabwe by five wickets in the first match, 58 runs in the 2nd match and seven-wicket in the 3rd match at the same venue were poised for whitewashing the tourists.
Chittagong City Mayor and Vice President of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) AJM Nasiruddin was the chief guest in the day’s closing function and handed over trophy.
Sent in to bat first in the 4th and final match, Bangladesh Under-19 team, riding on a polished 95 runs by Nazmul Hossain Shanta, scored a fighting total of 243 runs for all in 49.4 overs.
After the dismissal of opener Joyraz Sheikh for a duck in 1.3 overs, one down Nazmul Hossain Shanta pairing with another opener Saif Hassan contributed 93 runs in the 2nd wicket stand.
Nazmul Hossain furnished his 113-ball 96 runs innings with eight boundaries while Saif Hassan scored 67-ball 40 runs hitting five fours.
Besides, Saeed Sarker (17), captain Mehedy Hasan Miraj (15), Shafiul Hayet (14), Mehedi Hasan Rana (not out 11), Zakir Hasan (11), Sanjit Saha (10) were the notable scorers for home side, reaching the double figures.
K.Matigimu bagged four wickets for 45 runs while J Ives, T Takodza, W Mashinge, EN Nemaungwe and B Mavuta took one wicket each.
Chasing a target of 244 runs, Zimbabwe Under-19 side were bundled out for 118 runs in 38 overs to suffer a humiliating defeat with R Murry making the team highest 29, opener S Snyder 31, Taufail Zaheer 19, K Matigimu 16 and B Muzite 10 runs.
Sanjit Saha made the major damage to the Zimbabwean innings grabbing six wickets for 19 runs in his 10 overs spell with two maidens and was adjudged the man of the match.
Saeed Sarker took two for 26 while Saleh Ahmed Shawon and Ariful Islam took one wicket each.
Saif Hassan of Bangladesh named as the player of the series to receive a prize money of US $ 500.
