The Bangladesh national football team will take on their Sri Lankan counterpart in a FIFA friendly match scheduled to be held today (Wednesday) at new look Sheikh Kamal Stadium in Nilphamari. State-owned Bangladesh Television will telecast the match live while Bangladesh Betar will also provide live stream of the match that gets underway at 4 pm.
There is huge enthusiasm among the local football fans who are gearing up to watch the friendly match between hosts Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Near about 13 thousand tickets, priced from Taka 100 to 1000, were already sold out on Sunday while the remaining 7,000 tickets will be available for purchase on the match day from counters inside the stadium. The national booters boosted by the U-23 team’s performances in the Asian Games, where Bangladesh qualified for the round of 16 for the first time by beating Qatar and drawing against Thailand.
However, the boys in red and green were eliminated by North Korea in the knock out stage.
