Bangladesh will take on Maldives in the second semifinal of Women’s SAFF Championship scheduled to be held today (Monday) at Kanchenjunga Stadium in Siliguri, India.
In the day’s other match of the fixture, host defending champions India face three-time runners-up Nepal in the first semifinal.
Earlier, Bangladesh got their campaign off to a flier with a 6-0 win over Afghanistan and thereby ensured their semi-final berth, earning an edge on goal-difference over India. They also managed to hold their mighty neighbours to a draw with a deep defensive tactic.
Bangladesh avoiding defeat against the regional powerhouse, secured the top spot in the group with six points, equal to India’s, but having a better goal difference.
