Bangladesh Women Cricket team took 1-0 lead against Zimbabwe Women Cricket team beating them by 35 runs in the first match of the two-match T20I series at Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium in Cox’s Bazar on Tuesday.
Chasing a target of 126 runs, Zimbabwe Women finished on 90 for 8 in 20 overs.
SM Mayers scored team highest 29 runs off 41 balls with one four and one six while T Mlilo (19 off 17b; 3×4), M Musonda (not out 17 off 9b; 1×4, 1×6) and P Mujaji (11 off 16; 1×4) were the other double figure scorers for the visitors.
Rumana Ahmed grabbed 3 wickets for 11 runs in 4 overs while Salma Khatun took 2 wickets for 18 runs in 4 overs. Panna Ghosh and Shaila Sharmin took one wicket each for 12 and 13 runs respectively in 3 and 2 overs.
Earlier, sent in to bat first, Bangladesh scored 125 for 3 in 20 overs riding on the opening stand of 76 runs in 13.4 overs between Ayasha Rahman and Sharmin Akhter.
Ayasha Rahman who was adjudged player of the match scored team highest 50 off 54 balls with five fours.
Sharmin Akhter scored 35 runs off 45 balls with three fours while Fargana Hoque added unbeaten 32 runs off 21 balls with four fours.
Bangladesh’s all the three wickets fell victims of run out.
The 2nd and last T20I is scheduled to be held on Thursday (November 19) at the same venue.
