Bangladesh suffered their second consecutive defeat in a Pool A match of the 17th Asian Games Hockey losing to Malaysia by 1-5 goals at Seonhak Hockey Stadium, Incheon, South Korea on Sunday.
In the opening match on Saturday, Bangladesh made a frustrating start after conceding a humiliating 0-8 defeat against Japan at the same venue.
In the day’s match, Krishna Kumar scored the consolation goal for Bangladesh in the 29th minute, utilizing a pass from Niloy, off a combined attack with Pushkar Khisha Mimo to level the margin (1-1) in the 2nd quarter.
Earlier, Abdur Rahim put Malaysia ahead in the 20th minute from a penalty corner after a barren first quarter (1-0). No goal was scored in the 3rd quarter also (30-45).
But, Bangladesh conceded four goals in a row in the last quarter with two goals in final two minutes.
Malaysia, ranked 13th, won the match as the better side than Bangladesh, ranked 30th.
Bangladesh custodian Asim Gope played his best in the match and foiled at-least six penalty corners to save his team from further humiliation.
In the remaining group matches, Bangladesh will play Singapore on September 23 at 12 noon and will face hosts South Korea on September 27 at 4 pm.
