Sports Reporter :Bangladesh are struggling and facing crisis when the hosts lost their early five wickets scoring 107 in the first innings against Pakistan on the second day of the second and final Test match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Thursday.Earlier, Pakistan declared their first innings making a mammoth 557 for the loss of eight wickets on the second day.Pakistan resumed their first innings with the over-night score of 323 for the loss three wickets.Azhar Ali and Misbah-ul-Haq restarted their innings with the over-night score of 127 and nine runs respectively.But Misbah-ul-Haq was dismissed by Shakib Al Hasan before adding any run on the second day when the visitors total was 323 runs for the loss of four wickets.After removal of Misbah, Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq rescued their side from debacle adding together 207 runs for the fifth wicket partnership before Azhar Ali was caught at the long-off by Mahmudullah Riyad off Shuvagata Hom when Pakistan’s score was 530 for the loss of five wickets.Azhar knocked a sedate 226 from 428 balls. His maiden double Test century was decorated with 20 fours and two sixes.After dismissal of Azhar Ali, Asad Shafiq’s innings was short-lived. Shafiq hit a superb 107 off 167 balls. He cracked nine fours and one sixer before he was caught at the long-off by Mahmudullah Riyad off Shuvagata Hom when Pakistan’s score was 545 for the loss of six wickets. It was Shafiq’s sixth Test century.After departure of Asad Shafiq, Wahab Riaz was caught at the long-on by Imrul Kayes off Taijul Islam for just four runs when the tourists total was 552 for the loss of seven wickets.After four deliveries Taijul struck again as Yasir Shah was trapped leg before wicket before he opened his account when Pakistan’s score was 557 for the loss of eight wickets.Sarfraz Ahmed remained unbeaten with a run-a-ball 21 including three fours.Taijul Islam grabbed three wickets at the cost of 179 runs while Shuvagata Hom bagged a pair of wickets instead of 76 runs and Shakib Al Hasan got one wicket conceding 136 runs.After the declare of Pakistan’s first innings Bangladesh began their innings but the home side made a disastrous start as dashing opener Tamim Iqbal (4) was trapped leg before wicket by pacer Junaid Khan when Bangladesh’s score was just four.After dismissal of Tamim, Imrul Kayes and Mominul Haque contributed together 34 runs in the second wicket stand before Mominul Haque (13) was caught behind by wicketkeeper Sarfraz Ahmed off Junaid Khan when Bangladesh’s score was 38 for the loss of two wickets.After departure of Mominul Haque, Imrul Kayes and Mahmudullah Riyad contributed together 31 runs for the third wicket partnership before Imrul Kayes was bowled out by leg-spinner Yasir Shah when the home side’s total was 69 for the loss of three wickets. The Mahmudullah Riyad was caught at the short-leg by Azhar Ali off Wahab Riaz when Bangladesh’s score was 85 for the loss of four wickets.Skipper Mushfiqur Rahim (12) was bowled out by Yasir Shah when the umpires drew the bails for the second day.Imrul Kayes hit his team’s highest of 32 from 46 balls including six fours while Mahmudullah Riyad made 28 off 32 balls featuring four fours.Shakib Al Hasan remained unbeaten with 14.Yasir Shah and Junaid Khan bagged a couple of wickets each for 15 and 26 runs respectively while Wahab Riaz got one wicket at the cost of 33 runs.
