Bangladesh Special Olympics team returned home on Wednesday with 79 medals. The gala extravaganza began on July 25 and came to an end on August 2 at Los Angeles in United States of America.
Bangladesh Special Olympics team clinched 40 gold medals, bagged 28 silver medals and 11 bronze medals.
A total of seven thousand participants from 177 countries took part in the 14th edition of Special Olympics. The athletes of Bangladesh participated in the 25 disciplines. Bangladesh earned medals in Badminton, Boichee, Table Tennis,Athletics and Aquatics. Bangladesh failed to earn medal in Football Competition.
Shuttler Smaran Mohammad captured all the gold medals in the Badminton Competition. Smaran Mohammad gained 10 gold medals while his compatriot Rezwanul Haque bagged five gold medals.
Meanwhile, Zakia Sultana of Bangladesh claimed eight gold medals in the different events of Boichee Competition.
Urmi Sadia of Bangladesh bagged four gold medals in Table Tennis Competition.
