ICC Women's World T20 Qualifier: Bangladesh seal 2nd successive win

Bangladesh crushed Scotland by 8 wickets in a group-A match on their way to tasting their 2nd successive victory in the ICC Women’s World T20 Qualifier at the Asian Institute of Technology Ground in Bangkok on Sunday.
Bangladesh Women’s team chased an easy target of 54 runs for 2 in 12.4 overs to maintain their winning spree in the qualifying battles spurred by the opening stand of 53 runs in 11.3 overs between Ayasha Rahman and Sharmin Akhter.
Sharmin Akhter scored the highest 26 off 32 balls with two fours while Ayasha Rahman added 24 off 34 with three overs.
Rumana Ahmed (not out 1off 4b) drew the winning line scoring a single run in the last ball off Kari Anderson. Rachel Scholes took the only wicket for Scotland conceding 6 runs in 2 overs.
In the day’s match sent in to bat first, Scotland Women were forced to fold their innings for a meager 53/10 in 19.1 overs.
Kathryn Bryce (12 off 18b) was the only double figure scorer while Rachel Scholes, opener Fiona Urquhart, Kari Anderson and skipper Abbi Aitken scored 8 runs each for Scotland. Delivering 4 overs each, Rumana Ahmed grabbed 3 wickets for economic 9 runs while Khadija Tul Kubra took 2 wickets for 13 runs.
Jahanara Alam, Fahima Khatun and Panna Ghosh took one wicket each for 5, 5 and 12 runs respectively in 2.1, 3 and 4 overs.
With this result, Bangladesh women’s are maintaining the top slot in the four-team group-A qualifier battles bagging all-win 4 points from two matches.
Bangladesh will play their next group-A match against Papua New Guinea Women’s team at 9:00am (Bangladesh time) at the same venue on Tuesday.
Earlier, Bangladesh ensured a winning start in the meet crushing host Thailand by 73 runs at the Thailand Cricket Ground in Bangkok on Saturday.
