Bangladesh score 277/5 on the 1st day

Bangladesh scored 277 for the loss of five wickets on the first day of the second Test against Sri Lanka at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Monday.
Bangladesh had a sorrow start as opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy (0) was bowled out by Kusan Rajitha when Bangladesh’s score was just zero.
After Joy’s removal, dashing opener Tamim Iqbal (0) was caught at the point by Jayawickrama of Asitha Fernando when Bangladesh’s score was six for the loss of two wickets.
After Tamim Iqbal’s dismissal, Mominul Haque (9) was caught behind by wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella off Asitha Fernando when the hosts’ total was 16 for the loss of three wickets.
After Mominul’s departure, Najmul Hossain Shanto was bowled out by Kusan Rajitha when the home side’s score was 24 for the loss of four wickets.
After Shanto’s dismissal, Shakib Al Hasan (0) was trapped leg before wicket by Kusan Rajitha when Bangladesh’s total was 24 for the loss of five wickets.
Then, Mushfiqur Rahim and Litton Das rescued their team from debacle contributing together 253 runs for the unbroken sixth wicket partnership before the bails were drawn for the first day of the second Test. It is the highest sixth wicket partnership for Bangladesh in Test cricket and also a world record as they piled up an unbeaten 253 runs in the unbroken sixth wicket stand.
Mushfiqur Rahim remained unbeaten with 115 runs. He hit 13 fours in his 252-ball innings. Mushfiqur Rahim reached his ninth Test hundred-run using 218 balls with 11 fours. Mushfiqur Rahim is now the highest scorer in Test cricket for a Bangladesh batter. He scored 5152 runs playing 149 innings.
Litton Das remained unbeaten with 135 runs. His 221-ball innings was decorated with 16 fours and a sixer. Litton Das reached his third Test hundred-run landmark playing 149 balls with 13 boundaries.
Right-arm pacer Kusan Rajitha grabbed three wickets at the cost of 43 runs, while Asitha Fernando captured two wickets in the space of 80 runs.
