Bangladesh scored 133 for the loss of two wickets in the first innings against Sri Lanka on the second day of the 1st Test at Galle International Stadium in Sri Lanka on Wednesday.
 Sri Lanka piled up a mammoth total of 494 in the first innings on the second day.
Bangladesh made a solid start as openers Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar put on together 118 runs in the opening stand before Tamim Iqbal was unfortunately run out by wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella.
Tamim Iqbal knocked a sedate 57. His 112-ball innings was belted with six fours. It was Tamim Iqbal’s 21st Test half century.
Then Mominul Haque arrived at the crease but his innings was short-lived as he (7) was trapped leg before wicket by Dilruwan Perera when Bangladesh’s score was 127 for the loss of two wickets.
Soumya Sarkar remained unbeaten with 66. He hit seven fours in his 133-ball knock. It was Sarkar’s second Test half century.
Mushfiqur Rahim remained unbeaten with one.
Earlier, Sri Lanka made 321 for the loss of four wickets in the first innings before the bails were drawn for the opening day (Tuesday).
Kusal Mendis and Niroshan Dickwella resumed their first innings with the over-night score of 166 and 14 respectively.
They added 77 runs for the fifth wicket stand on the second day before Mendis was caught at the long-on by Tamim Iqbal off Mehedi Hasan Miraz when the hosts’ total was 398 for the loss of five wickets.
Mendis notched up a terrific 194. His 285-ball innings was studded with 19 fours and four sixes.
After dismissal of Mendis, Niroshan Dickwella and Dilruan Perera produced 34 runs in the sixth wicket partnership before Dickwella was caught at the short third man by Mahmudullah Riyad off Mehedi Hasan Miraz when the islanders’ score was 432 for the loss of six wickets.
After departure of Dickwella, Sri Lanka failed to build any notable partnership.
Dickwella knocked a superb 75 from 76 balls with six fours and a sixer. It was his second Test half century.
Perera made 51 from 77 balls featuring seven fours and a six. It was Perera’s third Test half century. Perera was trapped leg before wicket by Mehedi Hasan Miraz when Sri Lanka’s score was 494 for the loss of eight wickets.
Earlier, Rangana Herath (14) was caught at the first slip by Soumya Sarkar of Mustafizur Rahman when the hosts’ total was 457 for the loss of seven wickets.
Number-10 batsman Lakshan Sandakan (5) was caught at the mid-off by Mehedi Hasan Miraz off Shakib Al Hasan when the hosts’ innings came to an end.
Mehedi Hasan Miraz was the day’s most successful bowler with four wickets at the cost of 113 runs.
Mustafizur Rahman bagged two wickets instead of 68 runs.
Besides, Shakib Al Hasan got one wicket conceding 100 runs.
