UNB, Dhaka :Bangladesh made a flying start in the 4th Men’s Junior AHF Cup Tournament crushing Chinese Taipei by 7-0 goals in their first match at the Moulana Bhashani National Stadium here on Monday.Defender Khorshedur Rahman, midfielder Farhad Ahmed and forward Moinul Islam Koushik scored two goals each while Mohammad Naim netted one goal for Bangladesh which dominated the first half by a solitary goal, after spoiling a good number of easy chances.Bangladesh took lead in the 27th minute by a penalty corner as their penalty corner specialist Khorshedur Rahman hit the target off a Milon push, stopped by captain Mohammad Sarwar (1-0).Bangladesh scored three quick goals within only five minutes in the early 2nd half destroying all resistance by Chinese Taipei. Koushik scored the second goal in the 41st minute, also from a penalty corner, off a Milon, Sarwar, Khorshed combination (2-0).Farhad scored the 3rd goal in the 44th minute following a penalty corner (3-0) while defender Khorshed scored his 2nd goal, the 4th for Bangladesh, in the 46th minute (4-0). Farhad scored his 2nd goal, the 5th for Bangladesh, in the 50th minute, also from a penalty corner (5-0).Koushik added his second, a field goal, in the 52nd minute from action (6-0) while Milon sealed the fate of the match in the 55th minute by another field goal (7-0).Earlier, in the day’s another match, Oman made a brilliant start in the Men’s Junior AHF Cup with a 7-0 win over Thailand at the same venue in the afternoon.Seven players scored one goal each for Oman with a 1-0 lead in the first half.Muhanna Nasser Ali scored first for Oman in the 3rd minute, but Thailand managed to protect their post from further damage in the first half.But in the second half it was a different story with Omar scoring six more goals in a row, frustrating Thailand.Khalid Ibrahim netted the second goal in the 42nd minute, Ahmed Said Salmeen netted the third goal in the 44th minute, Rashid Jamil Naseeb netted the fourth in the 52nd minute, Ahmad Badar Zahir slammed the fifth in the 56th minute, Imad Ayyad Masud scored the sixth in the 60thminute while Shafi Talib scored the last goal for Oman in the 65th minute.Hosts Bangladesh will play Thailand on Tuesday at 3 pm while Oman will face Sri Lanka on Wednesday at 3 pm.
