Bangladesh reports highest 790 test positive for COVID-19 in a day

Bangladesh on Tuesday reported three more Covid-19 patients’ death and 790 test positive of coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in a briefing.
“With the new cases, the death toll reached 186 and the total number of infected now stands at 11,719,” said Professor Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General (Administration) of DGHS, in the press briefing in Dhaka.
Dr. Sultana said that total 6,241 people were tested in 33 labs across the country since Tuesday.
She said that two of the deceased were male. Age-wise, two were above 60 and another between 41-50 years old and two were from Dhaka.
The new cases of 790 infections are the highest for a single day in Bangladesh.
The number of infections continued high-ceilinged as it was 786 in Tuesday while it was 688 on Monday, 665 on Sunday, and 552 on Saturday.
In the past week, from April 30 to May 6, at least 4,617 people got infected with COVID-19.
On April 6, just a month earlier, the day’s infection’s was 35 and the number of total infected passed 100 raising the total figure to 123 on the day.
Dr. Sultana said, total of 184 people were put under isolation across the country.
She said that 1,794 suspected patients were in isolation on Wednesday.
She said that booths to collect samples would be installed to reach the people with the testing services.
No new patients of Covid-19 recovered in the country in the last 24 hours. The total recovery number stands at 1,403 she added.
