Bangladesh records 28 new virus deaths, detected 1,764 infected people

Bangladesh reported 28 new deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.
It also registered 1,764 new cases of the virus infections across the country in the same period.
“With the new fatalities, the death toll reached to 610 and the tally of infections surged to 44,608,” Professor Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), said it in a regular press briefing in Dhaka on Friday.
Dr. Sultana said that another 360 COVID-19 patients were released from hospitals in the same period, raising the recovery count to 9,375.
She said that the rate of recovery from the disease currently stands at 21.02 percent while the mortality rate is 1.37 percent.
According to government data, total of 9,987 samples were tested at 50 authorised RT-PCR laboratories across the country in the last 24 hours.
Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus cases on March 8 and the first death on March 18.
Amid the coronavirus cases and deaths continue to rise in the country the government decided to allow limited scale operation of public transport and offices from May 31 to June 15.
 The government gazette said public transports – buses, trains and vessels – will have to maintain health guidelines.
 According to the notice, all government, semi-government and autonomous offices will resume under self-management.
