A record 2,523 new coronavirus infected people has been detected while 23 new deaths were registered in Bangladesh in the last 24 hours.
“With the new cases the tally of infections stand now at 42,844 and the death toll reached to 582, “Professor Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), said it in a regular press briefing in Dhaka on Friday.
The fatalities and infections from the virus continued to soaring in the country.
Dr. Sultana said that among the latest fatalities, 19 were male and four were female.
She said that more 590 COVID-19 patients were recovered and released from different hospitals across the country in the last 24 hours, raising the recovery count to 9,015.
The DGHS official said that total12,982 samples were tested at 49 authorised laboratories across the country in the period while 11,301 specimen were collected in the last 24 hours, the rest of the samples were tested from its stocks.
Almost every day, the number of infections is logging records as the days are coming.
The detection of 2,523 people with Covid-19 in a day is the highest for a single day infections in Bangladesh.
Amid these growing concerns of soaring the rate of infections of the virus, the government is to ease the public movement from May 31.
‘Everything will be opened up after Sunday… Please use masks, wash your hands and cover faces when during movement,’ Dr. Sultana requested people.
The country confirmed its first infection from the virus on March 8, and declared the first death from the brutal virus on March 18.
Bangladesh passed 83rd day on Friday since the first infections and now on the 12th week of infections.
