Bangladesh Press Institute Bill, 2018 was placed in the Jatiya Sangsad with an attempt to bring all the activities operated by the press institute under a legal frame.
Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu placed the bill in the House on Wednesday with Deputy Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Mohammad Fazley Rabbi Mia in the chair.
Under the proposed bill, the government will establish an institute forimparting professional training on Journalism and provide certificate, operate diploma and degree course, research and publication and develop journalism profession age-befitting and prosperous.
Placing the bill, Inu said establishment of the institute would help to form interactive website, digital museum, digital archive, Library, mass media reference and information center including information based unit comprising with modern information technology.
