Bangladesh is prepared to stage Bangabandhu Asian Senior Men’s Central Zone Volleyball Championship. Bangladesh Volleyball Federation (BVF) will organize the mega volleyball meet. The volleyball competition begins tomorrow. Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, MP, will inaugurate the gala extravaganza as the chief guest.
To mark the volleyball competition, a press conference was held at the Ball Room in Pan Pacific Soanrgaon Hotel on Thursday.
President of Bangladesh Volleyball Federation (BVF) Md Atiqul Islam, Vice-President of BVF Aslam Sunny, General Secretary of BVF Ashiqur Rahman Miku, Iranian Coach of Bangladesh National Volleyball team Ali Pour Aroji were present at the press conference, among others. The mega volleyball competition will be held at the Shaheed Suhrawardi Indoor Stadium in the city’s Mirpur.
A total of six teams splitting into two groups will compete in the volleyball meet. Hosts Bangladesh, Maldives, Nepal are in Group-A, while Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan are in Group-B.
The champions of the Group-A will take on the runners-up of the Group-B in the first semi-final, while the champions of the Group-B will meet the runners-up of the Group-A in the second semi-final on April 25.
The winners of the two semi-finals will face each other in the final on April 27.
Bangladesh Volleyball Federation (BVF) has formed a 111-member organizing committee to run the tournament smoothly.
Atiqul Islam said, ” Bangladesh have taken preparation for the competition. Bangladesh will fight for the honour of the country. Bangladesh will fight for the championship title.”
Ali Pour Aroji said, ” We have prepared for a good result. But it will be difficult to be the champions of meet. We will try hard to become the champions.”
Ashiqur Rahman Miku said, ” I hope the competition will be attractive and up to the mark.”
The champions will get $ 3,000, while the runners-up will be awarded $ 2,000 and the third-place finishers will be given $ 1,000.
