Dhaka Dynamites posted a massive 83-run victory over Rajshahi Kings in their first match of the UCB 6th Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20 cricket at the flood-lit Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Saturday.
Sent into bat first, Dhaka Dynamites piled up a mammoth total of 189 for the loss of five wickets in the stipulated 20 overs and then they bundled out Rajshahi Kings for 106 off 18.2 overs.
Dhaka Dynamites made a formidable start as Hazratullah Zazari and Sunil Narine, the two openers of Dhaka put on together 116 in the opening stand before Sunil was caught at the long-on by Soumya Sarkar off Mohammad Hafeez.
Zazari notched up a windy 78. His 41-ball innings was decorated with seven sixes and four fours. Later, Zazari was adjudged the Man of the Match for his match-winning innings.
Sunil Narine hit a fine 38 from 28 balls featuring four fours and two sixes.
After Narin’s departure, Zazari was caught at the long-on by Soumya Sarkar off Mehidy Hasan Miraz when Dhaka’s score was 124 for the loss of two wickets.
After departure of Zazri, Shakib Al Hasan and Shuvagata Hom build another notable partnership. They put on together 53 runs for the unbroken sixth wicket partnership.
Hom remained unbeaten with 38. His 14-ball innings was laced with five fours and two sixes.
Shakib Al Hasan remained unbeaten with 21. His 19-ball innings had two fours and a sixer.
Arafat Sunny of Rajshahi Kings claimed two wickets at the cost of 23 runs, while Mohammad Hafeez, Qais Ahmed and Mehidy Hasan Miraz got one wicket each for 15, 29 and 38 runs respectively.
Later, Mohammad Hafeez was the only batsman of Rajshahi Kings who shone with the willow making 29 runs. His 28-ball innings saw four fours.
Pacer Rubel Hossain of Dhaka Dynamites was his team’s most successful bowler. He grabbed three wickets for seven runs.
Mohor Sheikh captured two wickets instead of 24 runs, while Andre Russell, Shakib Al Hasan, Shuvagata Hom and Kieron Pollard took one wicket each for 12,11, 16 and 22 runs respectively.
