Bangladesh piled up a fighting total of 403 in their first innings against West Indies President’s XI on the first day of the two-dayer practice match at Antigua in West Indies on Thursday night.
Bangladesh faced an early batting collapse after electing to bat first as they lost three wickets for 22 runs.
Then Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan repaired the damage contributing together 90 runs for the fourth wicket partnership before Shakib was caught by Brooks off Joseph when Bangladesh’s total was 112 for the loss of four wickets.
Tamim Iqbal notched up 125 from 165 balls. He hit 17 fours and four sixes before he was retired hurt when Bangladesh’s score was 277 for the loss of five wickets.
Shakib made 67 from 79 balls featuring 16 fours.
Mahmudullah Riyad hit 102 from 111 balls. His 162-minute knock was laced with 16 fours and a sixer. Riyad was also retired hurt when Bangladesh’s total was 347 for the loss of seven wickets.
Imrul Kayes hit a polished 40. His 57-ball innings was decorated with seven fours and a sixer.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz was the other batsman, who got success with the willow as a tail-ender.
Miraz scored 28 from 48 balls including five fours.
Alzarri Joseph, the right-arm pacer of West Indies President’s XI was the day’s most successful bowler. He captured four wickets at the cost of 53 runs.
JD Champbel, R Shepherd, G Moti-Kanhai and KJ Harding took one wicket each for 38, 67, 69 and 92 runs respectively.
