Bangladesh pile up 176 for 9 wickets despite Malinga hat-trick

Bangladesh piled up a healthy total of 176 for the loss of nine wickets in the stipulated 20 overs against Sri Lanka despite Lasith Maliga’s hat-trick in their second Twenty20 cricket match at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Thursday.
Bangladesh had a solid start as Imrul Kayes and Soumya Sarkar the openers produced together 71 runs in the opening stand before Soumya Sarkar was caught and bowled by Asela Gunaratne.
Soumya Sarkar hammered a hurricane 34 from 17 balls including four fours and two sixes.
After dismissal of Sarkar, opener Imrul Kayes stayed at the crease for a short period as he was run out by a joint effort of Upul Tharanga and Kusal Perera when the team’s total was 78 for the loss of two wickets.
Imrul Kayes notched up a remarkable 36. His 25-ball innings was decorated with four fours and a sixer.
Then Shakib Al Hasan and Sabbir Rahman contributed together 46 runs for the third wicket partnership before Sabbir Rahman was bowled out by Vikum Sanjaya when Bangladesh’s score was 124 for the loss of three wickets.
Shakib Al Hasan hit a superb 38. He hit four fours in his 31-ball innings before he was bowled out by Nuwan Kulasekara when the team’s total was 139 for the loss of four wickets.
Sabbir Rahman scored 19 off 18 balls.
Later, Bangladesh batsmen failed to make any notable partnership.
Lasith Malinga hit a hat-trick, which restricted Bangladesh from a massive total.
Malinga dismissed Mushfiqur Rahim (15) in his third delivery of his third over. Then he picked up Mashrafe Bin Mortaza’s wicket for a duck in his fourth delivery. Malinga fulfilled his hat-trick after trapped leg before wicket Mahedi Hasan Miraz (0) in his fifth delivery of that over.
Malinga captured three wickets at the cost of 34 runs.
Asela Gunaratne, Thisara Perera, Nuwan Kulasekara, Vikum Sanjaya took one wicket apiece.
