Bangladesh open chess team lost to Singapore by 1.5-2.5 points in the open section of the 6th round games of the 41st World Chess Olympiad now being held in Tromso in Norway.
In the 6th round games held on Friday, GM Niaz Murshed beat Lee Qing Aun of Singapore and GM Enamul Hossain Razib split points with WIM Gong Quinyun of Singapore.
GM Ziaur Rahman lost to GM Zhang Zhong and GM Abdullah Al Rakib lost to IM Goh Wei Ming Kevin. Bangladesh open team secured 5 match points and 11.5 game points after the 6th round matches.
In the women’s section, Bangladesh women’s team beat Chinese Taipei by 3-1 points after the 6th round matches. WIM Shamima Akter Liza, WIM Rani Hamid and Sharmin Sultana Shirin won respectively with Lin Yu-Tong Elaine, Liao Jo-Yu and Cho Hung-Ling of Taipei.
