The Bangladesh Open Badminton International Challenge tournament began on Tuesday at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Indoor Stadium in the city.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Dr. Biren Sikder MP formally inaugurated the meet as the chief guest. National Sports Council Secretary Ashok Kumar Biswas was present as the special guest. LGRD Secretary and Bangladesh Badminton Federation president Abdul Malek presided over the opening ceremony.
On the first day of the competition in mixed doubles event, Kaninpong Yokard and Nootprawee Promdej (Thailand) beat Rahad Kabir Khaled Alina Sultana pair (Bangladesh) 21-17, 21-13 while Anayet Ullah Khan and Aktar Nabila pair (Bangladesh) defeated Hussein Zayan Shaheed and Maisa Fathuhullah Ismail pair (Maldives) 19-21, 21-10, 21-13.
In the men’s singles event, Abdul Hamid Lukman (Bangladesh) got walk over against Boon Hui Lim (Malaysia), Nabin Shrestha (Nepal) beat Al Amin Zumar (Bangladesh) 21-16, 21-18, Ahsun Habib Parash (Bangladesh) defeated Krisda Kolum (Thailand) 21-14, 21-19, Duc Giang Nguyen (Vietnam) got walk over against Ansal Yadav (India), Hemanth M. Gowda (India) outplayed Labieb Mahzafar Lakamagi (Malaysia) 21-14, 21-19, Cao Cuong Pham (Vietnam) beat Minhaz Mohammad (Bangladesh) 21-10, 21-14,Yodsakorn Nualnooplong (Thailand) defeated Tushar Krishna Roy (Bangladesh) 21-15, 21-19.

In the women’s singles event, Reshma Karthik (India) beat Aktar Shapla (Bangladesh) 21-13, 21-16.
