Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury said Bangladesh is on the super highway of information technology (IT) under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
She said this when United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy on Youth Jayathma Wickramanayake paid a courtesy call on her at the latter’s office here recently.
During the meeting, they discussed different issues including role of youth parliament members, women empowerment, reducing of child marriage and youth development.
Chaudhury said young parliament members will lead the country in future. Their role in building a discrimination free humanitarian world will be very significant, she added.
Highlighting different development activities of the present government, Dr Chaudhury said the government has reached internet facilities to the doorsteps of people. The government has set up Sheikh Russell Computer Lab at every school to make the young generation skilled in information technology.
