News Desk :
The United States has not invited Bangladesh to the first Summit for Democracy scheduled for December 9-10 in spite of maintaining communication with the Bangladesh embassy in Washington on the matter for several weeks.
The US Department of State on Tuesday released a list of 110 countries invited for joining the first of two summits for democracy.
India, Pakistan, Nepal and Maldives are invited to the summit from South Asia.
US president Joe Biden will host the first summit virtually in December 9-10 in which leaders from the governments, civil society, and the private sector are invited ‘to set forth an affirmative agenda for democratic renewal and to tackle the greatest threats faced by democracies today through collective action,’ according to the US state department.
The second edition of the summit will be held in-person next year.
