Dhaka city unit of Bangladesh National Awami Party (Bangladesh NAP) on Monday arranged a discussion at Jadu Miah auditorium in city’s Nayapaltan to mark the ‘Black Day for Newspapers’.
NAP secretary general M Golam Mustafa Bhuiyan, joint secretary generals Syed Shahjahan Saju and Swapan Kumar Saha, addressed the function, among others, with the city unit president Morol Amzad Hossain in the chair.
Golam Mustafa Bhuiyan said that the freedom of press is now at stake due to intimidation and repression on journalists by the government. Referring to the gruesome killing of journalist couple Sagor-Runi, he said that the incident reflects the government hostile attitude against the media and the journalists, as the real culprits of the incident have not been arrested till now.
