AHF Cup Hockey: Bangladesh move to final with all-win record beating Sri Lanka 7-0

Bangladesh advanced to the final of the Islami Bank Men’s Junior AHF Cup Hockey Qualifiers with all-win record beating Sri Lanka by 7-0 goals at the Moulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium here on Saturday.
Host Bangladesh will play Oman Sunday at 2:30 pm to decide the champions. Earlier, Chinese Taipei will meet Sri Lanka in the 3rd place-deciding match at 11:30 am.
As the finalists of the current meet, both Bangladesh and Oman qualified for final round of the Men’s Junior Asia Cup, will be held in Malaysia next year.
In the day’s last league match, Fazle Rabbi and (28th and 47th minutes) Roman Sarker (44th and 64th minutes) scored two goals each, Milon (9th minute), Moinul Islam Koushik (17th minute) and Mohammad Ashraful (23rd minute) scored one each for Bangladesh.
Earlier in the day’s first match, Oman played to a 1-1 draw against Chinese Taipei at the same venue.
After the match, both Oman and Chinese Taipei finished their group matches with seven points each, but Oman reached the final by virtue of better goal difference (+1) against Taipei’s (-4).
In the 45th minute, Ching Hsu of Chinese Taipei broke the deadlock by a fierce hit, off a right flank cross of His Ching (1-0).
Muhanna Al Hasani leveled the margin for Oman in the 64th minute by a diving push after Salmeen al Nof Ali’s powerful hit bounced off the pads of Taipei goalie Chih Yen (1-1).
