The Bangladesh Monitor, Premier Travel and Tourism of the country hosted a reception on Saturday at a hotel in the capital, in honor of Shahid Hamid FIH, for being elected as the Executive Board of Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) for next two years, said a press release.
Executive Director of Dhaka Regency Hotel and Resort, Shahid Hamid is the first Bangladeshi to serve in such a prestigious position of PATA worldwide.
A Veteran and renowned personality in Bangladesh’s hospitality industry Shahid Hamid, has been serving as the chairman of PATA Bangladesh Chapter for the last four years. He is also the Board Member of PATA Headquarter for the period 2016-18.
Felicitating Shahid Hamid, Kazi Wahidul Alam, Editor, and The Bangladesh Monitor recalled his great contributions towards the development of the country’s Hospitality industry in particular, and the travel trade as a whole. Kazi Wahid urged upon him to put up his best endeavors to set up a PATA Tourism Excellence Centre in Dhaka towards creating trained manpower for the Travel and Tourism Sector and try to host PATA Travel Mart in Bangladesh during his tenure.
