Speakers at a post-rally discussion Thursday said Bangladesh has been marching fast towards a middle income nation following tremendous successes achieved by the government in every sector during the past six and a half years.
The District Information Office with assistance of Sadar upazila administration organised the discussion at Sadar upazila parishad auditorium on ‘Informing people about success achieved by the government, future development plans and involving them with uplift activities.’
Divisional Commissioner (Additional Secretary) Muhammad Dilwar Bakht attended and addressed the discussion as the chief guest with Sadar Upazila Chairman Nasima Zaman Bobby in the chair.
President of city Awami League Shafiur Rahman Shafi, its Vice-president Shah Mohammad Nabiullah Panna and General Secretary Tushar Kanti Mandal and Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Priyosindhu Talukder addressed as the special guests.
Sadar Upazila Vice-chairmen Afifa Banu and Shahinur Alam, Rangpur Regional Director of Bangladesh Betar Abdul Haque, Senior Reporter of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Mamun Islam, Chairmen Mokhlesur Rahman of Saddyapuskurini union and Aminur Rahman of Chandanpat union, addressed, among others.
Government officials, public representatives, entrepreneurs of union digital centres, heads of different educational institutions, teachers, students, youths, media workers, civil society members, sociocultural, political and religious leaders, women leaders, professionals and elite were present.
Senior District Information Officer Md. Humayun Kabir delivered power point presentation discussing successes achieved by the government in implementation of the Vision 2021, Charter of Changes and digitisation to accelerate pace of development.
He narrated the laudable development achieved in the education, health, agriculture, poverty alleviation, social safety-net, power generation, road communication, women and children development, women empowerment, digitisation and ICT sectors.
He discussed successes like winning sea, self-reliance on food, strengthening local government, improving law and order, self-employments, industrialisation, producing skilled human recourses, manpower export, prevention of human trafficking, militancy, terrorism, drug abuse, dowry, child marriage, polygamy and superstitions.
He also mentioned successes achieved in increasing remittance, improving diplomatic relations with international organisations and foreign countries, modernisation of disaster managements, research works and rehabilitation of disabled people, their job quota and prevention of child labour.
The speakers said the union digital centres, upazila and district web portals, digitised service providing devices have been reaching government services easily in a hassle-free manner to the peoples’ doorsteps at the lowest costs making civic life easier.
Successful functioning of the union digital centres has turned the digitisation process into an irreversible part of common life making every citizen dependant on the digitised ICT and internet facilities available everywhere.
They said the people are getting information, services and benefits through the union digital centres about agriculture, health, medicare, education, sanitation, admission, human rights, legal aid, employment, marketing produce and many other fields.
