Bangladesh has been marching fast towards a middle income nation following successful implementation of the digitisation programme that has become an irreversible process establishing accountability and transparency.
They were addressing the launching ceremony of a two-day Digital Innovation Fair-2014 being organised by the upazila district administration at Chirirbandar Girls’ High School premises in Chirirbandar upazila of Dinajpur on Friday.
The UNDP-assisted Access to Information (A2I) Programme of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has been extending assistance in arranging the fair where hundreds of people, mostly the youths and students, have been thronging with huge enthusiasm.
Deputy Commissioner of Dinajpur Shameem Al Razi attended the ceremony as the chief guest and formally inaugurated the fair with Chirirbandar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mohammad Mizanur Rahman in the chair.
The chief guest visited the 20 stalls set up by different GO- NGOs, Union Information Service Centres (UISCs), and institutions in the fair and lauded various newer digital innovations and service providing techniques being exhibited there.
Chirirbandar upazila chairman Alhaj Aftab Uddin Mollah, President of upazila Awami League Alhaj Aiyububar Rahman Khan, its General Secretary Principal Ahsanul Haque Mukul, Upazila Secondary Education Officer ASM Arif Mahfuz and Headmaster of the school Mahtab Uddin Sarker addressed as special guests.
The speakers said the nation has achieved tremendous success in the digitisation process for reaching services to the people’s doorsteps quickly and in a hassle-free manner through the UISCs and other web portals.
They said people are getting digital services like e-purjee, e- governance, e- education, e- agriculture, e-health, e-purjee, e- admission, e-earning, e-banking, e-employment, outsourcing and other services turning life easier accelerating the uplift process.
The chief guest said the fair would play vital role in sensitizing and bridging the people with the ICT, rights to information and getting government services in the process of building a middle income nation through realizing the Vision 2021.
He also narrated the strategic plans, policies and priorities for successful implementation of the digitisation and automation programmes in phases utilizing the ICT at the lowest costs to provide maximum services to the people.
