Bangladesh National Football team will take on Maldives in a FIFA friendly match at Male, the capital city of Maldives today. The match will kick-off at 10.00pm.
Before today’s match, Bangladesh and Maldives faced 19 times each other. Of them, Bangladesh won five matches, while Maldives posted 14 victories. But, in the last clash between the two sides, Bangladesh defeated Maldives by 2-1 goals on November 13, 2021. Bangladesh will meet Maldives in today’s match with the inspiration of that match. According to the latest FIFA rankings, Bangladesh have taken 186th position, while Maldives have achieved 156th position.
It may be mentioned that Bangladesh Football squad took part in a three-day long coaching camp under the Head Coach Javier Cabrera, the newly appointed coach of Bangladesh Football team.
Earlier, Cabrera has chosen a 23-member Bangladesh Football squad after watching the matches of TVS Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football. The coaching camp was held at Bashundhara Sports Complex in the city.
It is noteworthy that Ali Ashfaq, the prolific footballer of Maldives will not take part in the today’s FIFA friendly match. So, Bangladesh Football team will get an extra advantage against Maldives.
Bangladesh Football team played two FIFA friendly matches against Maldives in Male. Bangladesh lost to Maldives in all those occasions. But Captain of Bangladesh Football team Jamal Bhuyan said, ” Our record in Maldives is not up to the mark. But we defeated Maldives in the last clash against them. So, I am confident we shall beat Maldives at their home soil.”
This is the first assignment of Javier Cabrera. The football lovers of the country expect that the Bangladesh team will present a better brand of soccer under the Spain-born Head Coach Javier Cabrera.
