Coming from behind, defending champions Bangladesh made a good start in the Bangabandhu Asian Senior Men’s Central Zone International Volleyball Championship beating Nepal by 3-1 sets in the opening match at the Shaheed Suhrawardy National Indoor Stadium here on Saturday.
Hosts Bangladesh conceded 24-26 points to Nepal in the first set, but they recovered the early mistake and smartly snatched important victory beating Nepal by 25-18, 25-14, 25-21 points in the last three sets.
Participating countries are:
Group A – the Maldives, Nepal and hosts Bangladesh Group B – Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan
A strong Organizing Committee for the Tournament was formed earlier with Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed MP as chairman.
