U-19 Warm-up: Bangladesh make good practice outplaying Zimbabwe by 63 runs

Hosts Bangladesh made a good practice outplaying Zimbabwe by a huge 63 runs in a warm up match of the ICC Under-19 World Cup at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in the port city here on Saturday.
Bangladesh Youth team batted first after winning the toss and piled up a good total of 284 runs for 9 in stipulated 50 overs, featuring a century by top order batsman Nazmul Hossain Shanta.
After the departure of three top order batsmen-Saif Hasan (6), Joyraz Sheikh (26) and Pinak Ghosh (43)-for 90 runs in 20.3 overs, Nazmul Hossain Shanta pairing with captain Mehedy Hasan Miraz contributed 80 runs in the 4th wicket stand to carry team total 170 runs in 34.5 overs.
Two down Nazmul Hossain Shanta hammered a century scoring 102 runs off 103 balls featuring five fours and one six while number five Mehedy Hasan Miraz contributed 33 runs of 46 balls, including three boundaries.
Apart from opener Pikan Ghosh’s 55-ball 43 runs with five fours and one down Joyraz Sheikh’s 33-ball 26 runs with four boundaries, Zakir Hossain (20), Saeed Sarker (20) and Shafiul Hayet (11) were the other Bangladeshi batsmen reaching double figures.
WT Mashinge grabbed five wickets for 67 runs while J Ives took two for 43 runs.
In reply, Zimbabwe were forced to fold their innings at 221 runs for 7 in allocated 50 overs with one down R Murray making run-a-ball unbeaten 123 hitting nine fours and three sixes.
AK Patel (32), A keefe (18) and J Ives (17) were the other notable batsmen for Zimbabwe.
Abdul Halim picked up two wickets for 46 runs while Joyraz Sheikh, Mehedy Hasan Miraz, M Saifuddin, Ariful Islam and Saeed Sarker took one wicket apiece.
Hosts Bangladesh will play the opening match of the ICC U-19 World Cup against South Africa on January 27 at Zahur Ahmed Choedhury Stadium in Chittagong.
