Bangladesh make 257 for nine wickets

Bangladesh made 257 for the loss of nine wickets in 50 overs in their innings against New Zealand in the Tri-Nation Cricket Tournament at Clontarf Cricket Club Ground in Dublin, Ireland on Wednesday.
Bangladesh made a solid start as Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar, the two openers put on together 72 runs in the opening stand before Tamim Iqbal (23) was caught at the cover by Colin Munro off James Neesham.
One-down Sabbir Rahman (1) could stay at the crease for a short period as he was cleanly bowled out by Mitchell Santner when Bangladesh’s score was 79 for the loss of two wickets.
Then Soumya Sarkar and Mushfiqur Rahim repaired the damage contributing together 38 runs in the third wicket stand before Soumya Sarkar was caught at the short mid-wicket by Tom Latham off Ish Sodhi when the team’s total was 117 for the loss of three wickets.
Soumya Sarkar hit the team’s highest of 61. His 67-ball innings was studded with five fours. It was Soumya’s fifth ODI half century.
After dismissal of Sarkar, Shakib Al Hasan arrived at the crease but he failed to shine with the willow as he (6) was caught at the mid-off by James Neesham off Ish Sodhi when Bangladesh’s score was 132 for the loss of four wickets.
Then Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah Riyad added together 49 runs for the fifth wicket partnership before Mushfiqur Rahim was caught behind by wicketkeeper Luke Ronchi off James Neesham when the Tigers’ total was 181 for the loss of five wickets.
Mushfiqur Rahim made a fine 55. His 66-ball innings was laced with four fours and a sixer. It was Mushfiq’s 24th ODI half century.
After departure of Mushfiq, Mahmudullah Riyad and Mosaddek Hossain built another notable partnership. They produced a worthy 61 runs in the sixth wicket stand before Mahmudullah Riyad was caught by Seth Rance off Hamish Bennett when the team’s score was 242 for the loss of six wickets.
Mahmudullah notched up a splendid 51. His 56-ball innings was decorated with six fours. It was Riyad’s 17th ODI half century.
Mosaddek Hossain hit a run-a-ball 41 with four fours. He was caught at the short fine leg by Seth Rance off Hamish Bennett when Bangladesh’s total was 253 for the loss of seven wickets.
Then Mehedi Hasan Miraz (6) was caught at the long leg by Seth Rance off Hamish Bennett when Bangladesh’s score was 255 for the loss of eight wickets.
Mashrafe Bin Mortaza (1) was run out by Luke Ronchi when Bangladesh’s total was 256 for the loss of nine wickets.
Hamish Bennett grabbed three wickets at the cost of 31 runs, while Ish Sodhi and James Neesham bagged a couple of wickets each conceding 40 and 68 runs respectively.
