Bangladesh Women lost to England Women by 79 runs in their Group B match of the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 Cricket at the Sylhet Divisional Stadium on Friday.
Electing to bat first, England Women piled up a comfortable 137 for the loss of five wickets in the stipulated 20 overs and then restricted Bangladesh Women to 58 for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs.
Fahima Khatun, Ayesha Rahman and Lata Mondal were the three batsmen of Bangladesh Women who could reach double digit figures scoring 16 (not out), 10 and 10 runs respectively.
D Hazell, NR Sciver captured altogether six wickets sharing three wickets each instead of four and 10 runs respectively.
A Shrubsole bagged a pair of wickets at the cost of 17 runs.
Earlier, opener CM Edwards of England Women hit a captain’s knock of 80. Her 69-ball hurricane innings was laced with 11 fours.
NR Sciver made 20 from 16 balls while HC Knight remained unbeaten with 18 off nine balls including two fours.
Salma Khatun and Khadija-Tul-Kubra got two wickets each conceding 26 and 29 runs respectively.
Rumana Ahmed took one wicket for 17 runs.
CM Edwards of England was adjudged the Player of the Match.
