Bangladesh will take on India in the opening match of the Asia Cup Twenty20 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in Mirpur today. The game starts at 7.30 pm.
Private satellite channel G TV will telecast the match live from the venue.
A total of five nations are competing in the final round of the Asia Cup T20. Hosts Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka are
straightly taking part in the Asia Cup T20, while the United Arab Emirates qualified through preliminary round. Before today’s encounter, Bangladesh and India faced each other in one T20 match only and India won that match by 25 runs.
Captain of Bangladesh team Mashrafe Bin Mortaza said, “India are one of the best teams in T20 format. If we want to win against India, we have to perform up to the mark in all the three (batting, bowling, fielding) departments. We don’t think about the result of the match. We want to play confidently. We shall try to play according to our plan.”
Mashrafe said, “We could not show better brand of cricket in T20 format. We performed well in ODI cricket. We want to show that kind of cricket in T20 format. If we can do that, we shall do better in T20 cricket.”
Before Asia Cup T20, Bangladesh team took part in the practice camp at Khulna. Then they went to Chittagong and participated in the coaching camp for long. Later, they returned to Dhaka and took part in the coaching camp at the SBNCS.
He said, “If we perform according to our training, we can do well in the upcoming match.”
Ace batsman of India team Virat Kohli said, “We could not perform well in the last two Asia Cup Tournaments. But we performed well in the recently concluded series in Australia and Sri Lanka. If we play that kind of cricket in the Asia Cup, we shall get good result in Asia Cup.”
Kohli highly praised new sensation Mustafizur Rahman.
He said, “Mustafizur is doing good. If he bags four or five wickets in the match, it is difficult for his opponents to get a good result.”
