SAFF Women's Championship: Bangladesh in tough group

Bangladesh National Women’s Football team have been placed in Group-B with India and Afghanistan, while Nepal, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bhutan have been taken place in Group-A.
The draw ceremony of SAFF Women’s Championship was held at the conference room in Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) House on Thursday.
A total of seven teams splitting into two groups are taking part in the gala football meet for South Asian women.
President of South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) and President of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Kazi Salahuddin and General Secretary of SAFF Anwarul Huq Helal took part in the draw ceremony of the SAFF Women’s Championship.
The SAFF Women’s Championship will be held at Kanchenjunga Stadium in Siliguri of India. The tournament will begin on December 26 and will come to an end on January 1.
Bangladesh will take on Afghanistan on December 29 in their first Group-B match.
Bangladesh will face India in their second Group-B Match on December 31.
The champions of Group-A will meet the runners-up of Group-B in the first semi-final on January 2, while the champions of the Group-B will take on the runners-up of the Group-A in the second semi-final on the same day.
The winners of the two semi-finals will face each other in the final on December 4.
After the draw ceremony, Kazi Salahuddin said, ” We shall make our final squad with the experienced players and the players of Bangladesh National Women’s Under-16 team. Our target is to play in the next year’s World Cup Qualifiers.”
