Bangladesh hoping for better results in Birmingham and Konya

Bangladesh is hoping for better results in the 22nd Commonwealth Games scheduled to take place in Birmingham and the Fifth Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya, Turkiye, said Syed Shahed Reza, Secretary General of the Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA).
On Sunday, Bangladesh Olympic Association held a press conference at the Dutch-Bangla Bank Auditorium of Bangladesh Olympic Association Bhaban to brief the media about the overall progress and prospects of the athletes participating in the Birmingham Commonwealth Games and Islamic Solidarity games Konya.
Shahed said that despite the absence of shooting sports in the upcoming edition of the Commonwealth Games, he is hopeful that athletes from Bangladesh will show better performance and uphold the prestige of the nation.
” Shooting and Archery are the two sports in which Bangladesh is doing good at the international level. But this time, Shooting is not included in Commonwealth Games. Though In the Islamic Solidarity Games shooting is included but only in the skeet events which is not our strongest suit. Despite everything, I believe the athletes will uphold the dignity of the red and green flag in these two international sports meets”, Shahed said.
 Bangladesh is taking part in the seven disciplines of the Commonwealth games this time, they are; Athletics, Boxing, Gymnastics, Swimming, Weight-lifting, Wrestling, and Table Tennis. A 50-member delegation including players, coaches, and officials represent Bangladesh in the Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022.
 Multiple gold-medal winner weight-lifter Mabia Akther will be the flag-bearer in the march past at Birmingham.
 In the Islamic Solidarity Games, Konya 2022; Bangladesh will compete in 11 disciplines: Athletics, Archery, Fencing, Gymnastics, Handball, Karate, Shooting, Table Tennis, Wrestling, and Weight-lifting.
The gold-medal-winning fencer Fatema Mujib will carry the national flag in the march past of Islamic Solidarity Games Konya.
 BOA officials are hopeful about doing better results in the upcoming international sports events and solicit good wishes and all kinds of co-operation from the media in every regards.
