But the country is still at the bottom in global rating as a bribe mongering country. The report has depicted a very high level of expectation for bribes and rent seeking among powerful people to make illegal fortune. It has rightly identified the deplorable situation in the country where a highly corrupt government is in control and more money and wealth are in their possession without known source of income.
The report has sadly indicated very poor
country score blaming the high degree of government interaction in business operation and regulations as a major cause of bribery. The matrix conveys and captures the multidimensional nature of bribery risk using 4 separate risk domains and 9 sub-domains.
The domains are business interactions with government. This makes business to regularly pay bribes or thanks money to government leaders and senior executives to secure government projects or supply contracts. The other domain such as anti-bribery deterrence and enforcement have good infrastructure in the country as the report has pointed out but they are in fact ineffective and their interaction with unfair or illegal business is inordinately promoting bribery. The third domain relating to transparency in government and civil service activities also lack disclosure and accountability. The capacity of civil society oversight is also very weak and ineffective to deter bribery.
Our success in corruption is unbearable. Blaming the government will be wrong. We have to as meek and craven people deserve the kind of government we have. Brave talks and lies are nowhere so easily as we do. Anybody can buy our public servants to be the personal servant of those in power. They are living in shame for meekness and no sense of pride.
