Bangladesh Football team arrived at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Friday night from Kyrgyzstan after taking part in the Tri-Nation Football Tournament at Bishkek, the capital city of Kyrgyzstan.
Bangladesh Football team’s training camp will start from September 20. The booters will be prepared under supervision of Head Coach of Bangladesh Football team Jamie day for the upcoming SAFF Championship, the most prestigious football competition of South Asian region. The SAFF Championship will be held at Male, the capital city of Maldives.
A total of five teams will take part in the first phase of the SAFF Championship. The first phase of the football meet will be held on Single League basis. Top two teams from the league will play in the final. Hosts Maldives, Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka and Nepal will take part in this year’s SAFF Championship.
Bangladesh will take on Sri Lanka on October 1, the red-and-green outfit will face India on October 4, Bangladesh will meet Maldives on October 7, Bangladesh will play against Nepal on October 13. The final will be held on October 16.
Before taking part in the SAFF Championship, Bangladesh went to Bishkek, the capital city of Kyrgyzstan to take part in the Tri-Nation Football Tournament there. Bangladesh lost to Palestine by two goals to nil in their first match of the Tri-Nation Football Tournament on September 5. The red-and-green outfit tasted a 4-1 goals defeat to Kyrgyzstan in their second match of the tournament on September 7. Besides, Bangladesh played a warm-up match against Kyrgyzstan Under-23 Football team. Bangladesh lost to Kyrgyzstan Under-23 Football by 3-2 goals on September 9.
It may be mentioned that Holders Bashundhara Kings will play their three matches of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football. After ending the BPL Football, Jamie Day will start his coaching camp with his boys for the preparation of SAFF Championship.
Bangladesh emerged the champions in the SAFF Championship in 2003. Bangladesh played in the final of SAFF Championship in 2005 in Karachi, the port city of Pakistan. India clinched the SAFF Championship title, while Bangladesh finished runners-up in that year’s football meet.
