Bangladesh Football team’s Saudi campaign postponed due to Covid-19

Bangladesh Football team’s Saudi campaign was postponed due to coronavirus situation. Bangladesh team was scheduled to go Saudi Arabia on Monday to play some practice matches against the teams of Saudi Arabia. The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) managed some matches against some selected XI of Saudi Arabia before take part in the Group-E matches of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers at Doha, the capital city of Qatar. The booters of Bangladesh took all kind of preparation to go to Saudi Arabia. But suddenly their flight was postponed due to coronavirus. So, Bangladesh team’s flight of Saudi Arabia became uncertain.
Head Coach of Bangladesh team Jamie Day and his boys took part in the practice session at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Monday. Jamie day became frustrated after knowing the cancellation of yesterday’s flight.
After finishing the practice session, Jamie Day said, ” The BFF can explain the total situation. It is a disappointment for us that we missed to take a satisfactory preparation. If we miss to play preparation matches against the team’s of Saudi Arabia, I think our preparation will not be totally okay.”
Jamie Day and his boys want to go Saudi Arabia today. If their flight schedule can not manage today, Day is not interested to go to Saudi Arabia. The booters also became depressed after cancellation of Saudi flight.
Day said, ” My boys are not happy as their flight was cancelled. I’m not interested to tell more about the subject.”
Manager of Bangladesh preliminary football squad Iqbal Hossain said, ” The officials of BFF are consulting with the authority of Saudi Arabia about our flight. The final decision will come today.”
If Bangladesh preliminary football squad get permission to go Saudi Arabia today, the squad will leave for Saudi Arabia today. Otherwise, Bangladesh preliminary football squad will leave for Qatar on May 30. The rest of the Group-E matches of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers will be held at Doha, the capital city of Qatar.
Bangladesh will take on Afghanistan on June 3, while the Red-and-Green out-fit will face India on June 7 and Bangladesh will meet Oman on June 15.
