Bangladesh Football team left the city for Qatar on Thursday to take part in the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers 2022 and AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers 2023 match against Qatar Football team in Doha, the capital city of Qatar on December 4. Striker Nabib Newaz Ziaban could not go to Qatar due to injury. Besides, Head Coach Jamie Day did not got with his team as he has been suffering from coronavirus for some days.
Bangladesh had another bad news as their regular player SM Monjurul Rahman has tested positive for Covid-19 test. He could not go with the Qatar-bound Bangladesh team.
The footballers and the officials underwent Covid-19 test on Tuesday day night after Bangladesh had played against Nepal in the second match of the ‘Mujib Borsho’ FIFA International Football Series on November 17.
Bangladesh will play two practice matches against the local sides of Qatar on November 25 and November 28 before they face Qatar in the Qualifiers match on December 4.
The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) will arrange a second coronavirus test for Monjurul after three days. If his corona report becomes negative Jamie Day will think about his replacement.
On the other hand, Jamie Day can join his squad if he has tested negative for coronavirus test after some days.
Bangladesh Football team will take a three-day quarantine at a hotel in Doha. They will get gym and swimming facilities during their quarantine period.
Earlier, Bangladesh Football team lost to Qatar by two goals to nil in their home match of the Qualifiers at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
