Bangladesh national hockey team finished 6th in the Hero Asia Cup Hockey after conceding a massive 0-8 goals defeat to strong Pakistan in the 5th-6th place-deciding match, which was held on Wednesday at the Bung Karno Sports Arena in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The winners’ dominated the entire proceeding and took a 2-0 lead at the breather.
With this victory, the former champion Pakistan finished the Asia Cup Hockey in the fifth position.
Bangladesh managed to hold Pakistan after conceding two goals in the first two quarters. However, as the match rolled to a close, Pakistan became more aggressive and increased the goal difference.
Pakistan scored two goals in the first half while the remaining six goals came from the remaining two halves.
Pakistan scored one goal in the first quarter and went to the breather adding another goal in the second quarter.
The former champions came to the field with more organised way and scored three more goals in the third quarter and added another three goals in the fourth quarter to finish the match with 8-0 goal win over Bangladesh.
It was the biggest margin of defeat for Bangladesh in the tournament going down 1-8 defeat to Malaysia in the group phase engagement.
Earlier, the boys in red and green, in their group B matches, suffered a massive 1-6 goals defeat to strong South Korea in their opening match, but bounced back to register a 2-1 goals victory over Oman in their second group match.

The boys in red and green however registered a hard-fought 4-2 goals victory against host Indonesia in a 5th-8th place classification match.
