Kazi Showeb Rashid has been elected as the new president of Bangladesh Film Exhibitors Association while Awlad Hossain Ujjal has been placed as new General Secretary. This was stated in a letter recently signed by the Bangladesh Film Exhibitors Association’s election board president, Sudipta Kumar Das, members Mozaharul Islam Obaid and Zahid Hossain.
Other posts goes to Miah Alauddin and Amir Hamza as vice-presidents; Sharfuddin Alam Samrat and Khorshed Alom as Vice General Secretaries. Ajgar Hossain and Abul Hossain will hold the posts of Treasurer and Organizing Secretary as R.M Younus Rubel will lead as Secretary for Cultural, Social welfare and Legal affairs. Uttam Kumar Singh Roy, Rafiq Uddin, Rabiul Islam, Farooq Hossain Manik, Ashraful Islam Babu and Suman Kumar Saha have been elected as members of the Executive Council.
The letter of the above results further stated that all the nomination papers were declared valid at the end of scrutiny of the nomination papers received by the office as per the revised schedule of 20-27 and all the nominees were elected unopposed as there were 5 valid nomination papers against 4 posts.
Earlier, Iftekhar Uddin Naushad was the president and Kazi Showeb Rashid was the general secretary of the association.
Meanwhile, reports of suspension of the organization came to light in early October in the wake of allegations against the current committee of the Bangladesh Film Exhibitors Association. Such information was reported at the time of Memorandum No.23.1.3.1.12.12 / 20 and Ministry of Commerce (TO-2 Branch). In light of the allegations received there, it was directed to send a report within ten business days of the receipt of the letter. However, the current vice-chairman of the committee Mia Alauddin said the issue was resolved through a stay order in the High Court on October 8.
