Bangladesh face an acid test when they take on favourites Egypt in a quarterfinal match of the World Hockey League Round-2 at the Moulana Bhasani Hockey Stadium today (Thursday).
The match kicks-off at t 4:00 PM.
Bangladesh team has played their last match against Egypt in 2001 where they suffered a 1-2 defeat in the Challenge Cup.
Egypt is a very strong team and they are standing 20th place in ranking and Bangladesh on 32nd but Bangladesh local coach Mahbub Harun keeps his hope may spring surprise as it is matter of do or die match.
“Bangladesh did not perform to their true potentials in the last three matches. Our performance was inconsistence in those matches. We failed to utilize lots of opportunities which came our way.”
The host team disappointed the partisan crowd as they finished at a miserable third spot in the group stage with 3 points, one win against Fiji (5-1) and two defeats against Malaysia (3-0) and Oman (3-2).
