The government on Friday announced to extend the ongoing lockdown of all public and private offices up to April 25 to restrain the spread of coronavirus.
The Public Administration Ministry said it issuing a circular in this regard on Friday.
The circular reads, emergency utility services such as water, electricity, gas, fire service, telephone, the internet will remain open during the shutdown.
Other emergency services will also remain out of the closure, the circular said.
Transportation of food items, medicines and medical equipment, agricultural products, fertiliser, insecticides, goods, newspaper, daily essentials and kitchen markets, restaurants, drug stores and hospitals would also remain out of purview of the shutdown, said the circular.
The offices can be opened for urgent necessities. Pharmaceuticals and export-oriented mills and factories will remain open if necessary, it added.
As per the circular, the operation of rail, buses and other transport would start gradually for the sake of people’s livelihood.
After announcing its first time closure on March 23 for the closure of all public and private offices from March 26 to April 4 the government extended it on April 1 announcing the closure from April 5 to 11 as the outbreak situation did not improve. On April 5 it extended the leave from April 12 to 14 as the situation continued gets worsened.
