U-19 Cricket: Bangladesh extend series lead against Zimbabwe

Bangladesh Under-19 team extended their series lead to 2-0 beating visiting Zimbabwe Under-19 team by 58 runs, spurred by Saif Hassan’s century, in the 2nd match of their four-match Youth ODI series at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on Thursday.
Sent in to bat first, Bangladesh U-19 scored 241 for 8 in 50 overs riding on the opening stand of 180 runs in 40.5 overs between the centurion Saif Hassan and Pinak Ghosh.
Saif Hassan who was adjudged man of the match hit his century scoring 100 runs off 154 balls with 12 fours.
Pinak Ghosh scored 65 runs off 99 balls with six fours and one six while number five batsman Saeed Sarkar hit two sixes to add 22 runs off 14 balls.
Nazmul Hossain Shanto (20) was the other double figure scorer for the hosts.
William Mashinge grabbed three wickets for 37 runs in 7 overs while Rugare Magarira took two wickets for 40 runs in 9 overs.
Jeremy Ives, Keith Jaure and Kundai Matigimu took one wicket each conceding 21, 31 and 40 runs respectively.
In reply, Zimbabwe finished their innings at 183 for all in 46.1 overs with Taufail Zaheer scoring team highest 63 off 86 balls including seven fours and one six.
Ryan Murray scored 35 off 53 balls with three fours and one six while William Mashinge(26 off 51b; 2×4), Shaun Snyder (14 off 34b) and Jeremy Ives(12 off 6b; 3×4) were the other double digit scorers for the visiting side.
Saleh Ahmed Shawon grabbed four wickets for 30 runs in 9 overs. Mehedi Hasan Miraz and Ariful Islam took two wickets each for 20 and 35 runs respectively in 9.1 and 10 overs. Mehedi Hasan Rana bagged one wicket for 31 runs in 4 overs.
Earlier, Bangladesh Youth side ensured 1-0 lead in the series beating the visitors by five wickets in the first match at the same venue on Tuesday.
The two remaining Youth ODI matches will be held on November 14 and 16 at the same venue.
